It was very entertaining. But I expect the FP to be like

This was the first race of the season that kept my kiddos interest for more than just the start.

How the fuck is that even possible?! I can’t lie, I doub ted Sebastan Vettel, but jeez he was tearing up Hockenheim. What a redemptive race.

I still find it funny that despite all the claims that F1 needed to be fixed and all that stuff the last few races have been great going back to Canada, with the exception of France which was awful to watch.
Mercedes’ implosion was fantastic . Apparently this is the race where they wanted to be filmed for the Netflix doc, so we should have an entertaining episode next year. It just goes to show that no team is infallible, even Mercedes. I am a huge Hamilton fan, but god damn how could you not enjoy this shit show! Hamilton said it himself, how did it end up like this?
Red Bull’s form is incredible. It’s not just Mercedes looking a bit more troubled, but legitimate gains in their car from both the PU and chassis side. Max seems to be getting the maximum out of the car and is really humiliating Gasly, for the most part. If they can keep building up, I think they can be legitimate WCC/WDC contenders for next year.
Ferrari - I joked yesterday about how Vettel would end up in front of Leclerc... but this wasn’t what I had envisioned. Really strong drive, this is the Vettel we need to see more consistently. Leclerc crashing off wasn’t a surprise on the slicks, bad luck for him.
Gotta hand it to Racing Point and Lance Stroll. I find him to be frustrating to watch most of the time but he held it together when others could not and the team hooked him up with a brilliant strategy. Credit where credit is due, he showed what he can accomplish, but just like what I said about Seb, this is the Lance I want to see every damn weekend.
Sainz threw that McLaren up there despite nearly putting it in the wall and having to reverse out. Real bad weekend for Lando overall, he said himself he didn’t get the maximum in quali and it’s too bad he DNFed.
Toro Rosso - I love watching this duo race. Being away from F1 might have been the best thing for Kvyat because I’m not thinking about his old “torpedo” moniker but the fact that he seems to be a very solid driver. Albon looked fantastic this race, amazing for a rookie in his first wet F1 race.
Renault - what a shit show. I’m just gonna say that Hulk is never gonna get a podium. For Danny, I fear he that his move is the equivalent of Alonso going back to McLaren-Honda rather than Hamilton going to Mercedes.
Haas - they need to take the magnets out of the cars.
Williams - best finish yet
All in all, another epic race. WDC race is the same as before, Max took a good step forward but is still 2+ race wins behind. Since Bottas DNFed, HAM is really no worse off than before.

i agree with everything you said
nice to see kvyat on the podium... dudes earned it
and stroll...i really do think he sucks.... but man.. whenever a race gets wierd that guy is right up there near the podium... or on it.. its uncanny
williams.. ahead of hammie for a while... and on the lead lap... nice
and yeah.... max is flying... ill have to live with the fanbois when he becomes a champ.... it seems pretty likely he will sooner or later... dude got a lot smarter in his driving
im ok with that tho... i hate his fanbois not him... tho i do think hes a bit of a twat... like hammie/kimi/seb/rosberg/senna etc

Haas - they need to take the magnets out of the cars.
First they need to figure out how they work

So Kyvat back to RB and d oes RB even have any juniors left to drop in the TR seat or is that up for grabs ?
Ocon gets the Merc seat over B ottas but its really his to lose as Merc might go all Marko on him and hand it to Russell.
I’m more interested in the Renault and Haas seats, Danny Ric is under contract but I can’t imagine Guenther and Cyril are happy campers right now.

I think Ocon is going to replace Hulk at Renault and Merc will wait until the last second and keep Bottas until Russell gets another year of experience. I think Red Bull will swap Gasly and Kvyat rather than fire anyone. No guesses on Haas though.

I don’t think that incident will be held against Bottas too badly since Hamilton did the same thing and had more off track ventures. At least, I hope not.

I didn’t learn about the Alfa Romeo penalty until hours later! Absolutely crazy race, can’t wait to watch it again.

Such a weird thing to get a penalty for too .
And I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a successful appeal but they do deserve it. Kimi raced his ass off and Gio kept his nose clean.

over on motorsport.com the finfoil brigade is already out in force claiming its just the fia making sure the mercs get something out of their special home race
i think thats a lil far fetched...if anything the fia was trying to help ferrari.... a fine for unsafe release?
well thats a first...this had better apply to all teams now

I like to think you’re right, but I think there’s a mental struggle at Mercedes over keeping things calm and sane (Bottas - better for the here and now) or bringing in the Next Big Thing and risking the inter-team balance.

What a great race. Maybe Bernie was right about putting sprinklers on the track.
